Every culture is rooted in its history and deserves to have that history preserved, honored, and communicated.
Organizations like schools, churches, synagogues, community organizers, and museums are often the keepers of cultural memory but do not have the knowledge or resources to preserve, organize, and store their archives long-term.
I work with nonprofits to assess and make bespoke plans for their archival holdings. Sometimes that means sharing archival best practices of preservation and arrangement so institutions can keep their archive safely on site. For others, that means working with institutional leaders, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to transfer their records to an appropriate repository like a larger university or museum archive.
I also help design and implement exhibits for nonprofits, whether that's a temporary archival showcase for an anniversary celebration or a permanent artifact case.
I love working with students on topics such as primary source literacy, research, and civic engagement.
